If this is true...that's FREAKING AWSOME! No offense to the BW Devs. But I would still love to have the HTC look on my phone (but I am NOT buying an Eris). If HTC releases these, I'm buying! :icon_ banana:

I actually have a bit of speculation to why they did this. With 2.1 coming which apparently allows for animated wallpapers, could it be that it allows for animated widgets also? I'm predicting that HTC is going to be developing HTC Sense UI widgets on the market once 2.1 comes out. This is purely speculation though lol, I'm thinking advancements in 2.1 will help unify Google phones in that they are all going to become stock google android phones, and UI enhancements companies make will be available on the market somehow for sale if the buyer wishes to use them. Perhaps they are just preparing for a widget release of their own? *Purely speculation, don't hate me if you don't agree lol *

I used ASTRO to do it. I downloaded it just to backup Beautiful Widgets, but it actually looks like a pretty nifty app anyway.

How do you back it up using Astro?

Just when I was planning on finally buying BW, this happens.

Out of curiosity, if you got the latest version, will it continue to work just fine (as far as showing the proper temperature, location, date/time)? What I mean is, even though the developer can't provide more updates, the most recent version will still function properly, right?

Is there 2 versions of 2.36? I've seen people have the version 53 and unfortunately i have the 52. What's the difference between 53 and 52?

I was on the fence about buying BW,now it's no longer an option. It's ok though, Android 2.1 will come to the Droid soon enough, and there will be other BW type apps coming along. and maybe even a version of Sense for the Droid. It's all good, Android has so much potential that 6 months or so from now we'll have so many options for widgets and backgrounds it'll be mind boggling.

I ended up buying this last night before any of this news came out and loved it the second I installed it. Sadly though, I am still within the 24 hour refund period and am thinking about doing it. If they stay on top of it with updates, even after all of this, I would be glad to keep it, but if not, I'm not so sure.

Anyone have any idea if Devs in these situations will bother with it?

I also bought this last night, while lurking i came accrros the home ++ thread and saw some amazing screenshots that included the BW widget...

What are the odds Google tinkers with the servers again like with the 2.0.1 update?... or whatever changed, where Weather Widgets became inaccurate until the developer fixed it (rather quickly I might add ) Would be a simple way they could 'stop' it from working.

I dunno. It would be funny if the original poster's comments were actually true. Like someone else pointed out, the Sense UI in no way resembles the iPhone's, and anyone who thinks otherwise either hasn't seen the Sense UI in action, or the iPhone's, or both. Last time I checked, the iPhone didn't have a default clock/weather widget like on the Sense's, for one thing. The email apps look and function differently, too.

Unless you're going to claim that being able to place app icons on a home screen is somehow duplicating the iPhone's interface (WinMo and other smartphone OSes were doing that before the iPhone), there's virtually no way the two UIs are identical.

you can extract the images from the beautiful widgets.apk if anyone wanted to try to make an updated version. i kind of want to make a home++ specific animated flip clock. HTC's sense design is out of the question i guess.

Home ++ has a built in flip clock. It's not bad but it's not Beautiful Widgets good. As long as BW works I'll keep using it. I did pay for it!
