Battery getting hot?!

Is it normal for my battery to be able to warm my hands in below freezing weather and to be so hot inside my house that I don't even want to hold it?! This is during normal web surfing or playing games that it does this...my blackberry would do this and then shut itself off...let me know, I'd rather not ruin this amazing phone!

I noticed mine would gradually get hotter the longer it was running. At about 5 days of constant run time, it would be extremely hot. I would shut it down, pull the battery and let it cool off for 5-10 mins or so, rinse and repeat. Since I got the 2.3.4 update, I've noticed it hasn't gotten nearly as hot, even after 10+ days of continuous run time. Warm I could understand, especially playing games. But I don't think it should be getting so hot you don't want to touch it.

Are you sure it's the battery? The 3g radio in the X2 is like a blast furnace. It's located at the bottom. Great from the battery however would come from the middle.
