Battery Charging LED not on?

Hi Guys, very new here.
I just got the Razr about 3 days ago, and I love it.
My only two gripes are the battery life and that for some reason, after the first charge , the notification light while charging does not come on anymore?
Anyone know what to do? I tried navigating through the settings, but I cant find anything related to the battery LED.

Fair question; I've never had a charge light.

It's funny, if you turn off the phone while charging, you will see the amber light then green when you reach 80%+ charge.
Turn the phone on, and that light disappears.

Im hoping someone can shed some light on this, or maybe there really is no light when the phone is on.
