bad motherboard

Hi I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but Ill give it a try. I have an android ally and the motherboard is bad. I want to purchase a junk one on ebay but I notice that some say bad ESN. Will that affect my phone? Should I look for one with a clean esn? Thank you for your advise.

If the phone on Ebay says bad ESN you might as well buy a literal brick. ESN stands for Electronic Serial Number. Carriers (Verizon, AT&T, etc) use it to identify devices on their network. If someone doesn't pay their bill or ends the contract prematurely, the ESN on their phone will become unusable. Hope that helps? By the who said the board was bad?.....
