Back to 2.1 trying to update to 2.2

So long story short I had to unroot my phone and go back to 2.1.

Now I used Google along with some resources on here, but no luck. I tried to manually update to 2.2, but i keep getting the "signature verification failed" error during the "update.zip" and it doesn't work. Anyway around this?

I ask this because I will be trading in this unit due to a broken headphone jack, which vzw is already aware of in my case, and will try to get a CLNR or hopefully a Droid 2 or X (cross fingers).

Would it matter that I'm on 2.1 and not 2.2? And I know I'm unrooted because I used the original 2.1update1 file and i don't see SuperUser Permissions anymore.

Help would be greatly appreciated

i just tried the method in your sig and no luck. guess i'll have to use rsdlite when i get home

for some reason it gave me the same error and yes i wiped it to factory.
