back key doesn't work

My back key(at the bottom of the touch screen) worked perfectly yesterday. But today morning when I pressed it, my phone did not give me vibration feedback and back key did not function at all. Three other keys still work good.

Anyone have the same issue? I sbfed it but back key just don't work. guess I must use the back key on keyboard, so awkward.

My friend gave me this phone as a gift on Jan. and he even unlocked it since I am not under verizon's network. It worked perfectly till today. I will go back to US next week so can I just go to verizon store to figure out the problem? I never use verizon.

thanks

really need some help. when I swipe to unlock the screen, i should try many times, as if I fail to do the gesture.

I don't have any answers for you, but I do share your problem with the swipe lock.

Mine does that, too. I tried to use the NoLock app but it only worked once in a while...plus it seemed to make my phone crash. Once I uninstalled noLock, it stopped crashing.

I do wish there was another way to disable the swipe-lock (not rooted). I have not found a solution to this...I just swipe until it opens.

Good luck!

Did you by any chance get water on the screen? Because I got like 5 drops on mine and the soft keys didn't work. I would tell you to try sbf'ing if you mind using the keyboard back key. Are you rooted?

I know some thing wet may cause touch screen issue so I am very careful with it. Verizon gave me a reply that I had voided warranty by unlock it to be used under other network, just like "jailbreaking".

My issue is probably something hardware. Never use Moto again.

Correct if you root the phone or use jail break n verizon finds out. GRATZ! You now have a paper weight if the phone breaks. The warranty is void. So if you do any of this I would suggest you do it after the warranty is over or don't opt for verizons warranty. I did read somewhere and I do not know if its correct that a factory reset will correct the root or jail break BUT I do not know if this info is correct. I will do some research on it and post my findings.

Thanks. Not only jailbreaking or rooting it will you void the warranty, but also unlocking sim card. That is what I didn't know.

Damn, so jealous of your D3. lol

I have seen this problem on og droid - few millimeters on the leftmost part of the screen stop function. This unfortunately can only be fixed by replacing the digitizer.
SIM unlock does not void warranty. Rooting does though.

I am so upset. Guess I must pick up a new phone.

VZW sent me e-mail that unlocking SIM does void warranty though.

If you have no Verizon account you are pretty much out of luck having Verizon to help you, even if the phone is untouched. Have the phone serviced by a gsm shop, parts are available. It will be cheaper to pick new phone at full price anyways. Especially if you like this one.

Here are couple of sources: Motorola Droid 2 Global A956 Digitizer Touch Screen, Motorola A956 digitizer - Cellular Parts USA and many more - simply google for "A956 digitizer". Ebay may also help.

Since you are not with Verizon, consider Moto XT860 4G instead D3 (same phone but without the CDMA radio). IMO - if you liked D2G for it flexibility and customizability - I doubt you'll like the iphone..

As far as your D2G - I think it holds pretty good value because it is unlocked. Not all D2G's can be unlocked and unlocked ones are easier to sell online. You can try ebay - note it is SIM unlocked for use outside US and that back button doesn't work (the digitizer may need to be replaced), I am pretty sure it will sell at a reasonable price. Definitely better than just dump it.
