Auto keyboard selection by rotation?

This is something I have been thinking about for some time but with my recent upgrade to the DroidX (damn you merge) from my D1 I se how much I really need it.

So my theory, in portrait I really like Swype but in landscape the 4.3 is just too wide for comfortable Swyping and would work better with a normal keypad.

Any ideas?

There was a root-only app on XDA called Keyboard Manager that did exactly what you describe.

It was still being worked on, and you had to start it every time you restarted your phone, but it worked while it was running.
