Attachments in Gmail

Crazy how this is a google phone and yet it only takes you to the photo and video gallery when you try to attach a file in Gmail. So far all I've found to fix this is to install OI File manager. Funny thing is that my hotmail will allow me to attach other files such as word docs, pdfs, etc but just not gmail. What's up with that?

I've found a lot of craziness with this phone... Kinda miss my iPhone.. I did say kinda... Wonder what 2.3 will truly bring...
