apps won't update

I have a bunch of apps that needs updates, but every time i try to update them it comes up unsuccessful. anyone have any idea of what the problem is?

I've used my task killer to close out apps in case that is the problem, but that didn't solve anything.

I've rebooted the phone countless times, and still no fix

I've fixed the permissions a few times in the ROM Manager, and still no fix.

Please, please get rid of the task killer. That's not helping at all.

Then after you do that go into your settings/applications/manage applications/all applications/Market. Clear both Data and Cache. That should fix it for you.

I get the same if I try to update a themed app I installed via update.zip. Would this be the case?

I currently have this problem too. If I click on the notification tat it didn't install it says "uknown reason -18."

I would like to know whats up too.

what apps? need to know you're set up - stock? rooted? custom rom?

I'm currently having this problem and running BB 6.2.1 and it did it on CM 6.1.2

Although when i switched to BB it let some of them download. I tried wiping data/cache in market app and doesnt help.

I currently can't update Babo Crash Deluxe and Radiant. There's a few others but I'm at work and can't use phone at the moment to see what others are.

if they're not system apps, i think (and i'm going from memory here) that there may be an issue with some apps updating on a rom built from the latest source.

I don't know if you read my post earlier but if i click on the unsuccessful installation notification it takes me to the market and say "unknown reason -18."

I tried googling it myself with no luck. Any idea how I can find out what "-18" means?

I'm currently using Cyanmod rom, rooted. I think I'm gonna get rid of this ROM though. BB was way better. i've been having so many issues with this stupid rom.

I've gotten that error code 18 a few times too.

sorry, i can't be much help there. did you try to uninstall the app, reboot, and then try dl'ing the updated version? or, you can try to find a dl for the .apk and install thru Root Explorer or Astro.

it may also be a mkt issue - as you know, the google mkt is famous for glitches now and again. if clearing data and cache in settings/manage applications doesn't work, nor anything else, you might try hitting up the rom dev'r - it may have something to do with the permissions and how the rom version interacts with the mkt.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled some of the apps, but I didn't clear the cache afterwards, so i think it still had some residual info on the phone, so it still required an update. I'll try that next and see what happens to unistall, clear cache, then reinstall.
