I deleted the app, quick office from my phone, but when I go to my apps drawer, the icon is still there and when I drag it to my recycle to delete it is gives me an error. What do I do?
Thanks

it is a system app, so it cannot be deleted unless you are rooted.

edit: noticed you are in Orlando.....small world.
if you need any help i can guide you through the root process. it is pretty simple these days. hit me up on PM and i will give you my g-talk account info

Ohhh I had no idea it was a system app. I did the Z4root a couple weeks ago, my phone was acting as little weird, didn't know if it was from the root. And I know there are a lot of guides about rooting but I want to hear your opinion on if I will brick my phone. You from Orlando? I got to ucf right now.

Rooting with Z4 should be fine. It is pretty much impossible to brick this phone, there is always SBF which I can help you with. But as long as you are rooted, you can grab root explorer, navigate to system/app folder, find the.apk, and change the.apk part to.bak. Or download titanium backup pro (my suggestion) and freeze the.apk

I actually live in lake mary, but work right across the street from UCF at Siemens. So if you are ever unsure about something I can probably show you how in person.

The key words in this statement is "pretty much impossible." I had sbf my D2 on two occasions. Then when I wanted to install rooted Gingerbread I used the sbf P3Droid provided and followed his instructions. The sbf was successful. However my phone was bricked.

So it's not impossible. Sometimes stuff happens when you play around with the phone. I'm not rooting again. I wished I would have stayed with the stock gingerbread I had installed.

thats why i said pretty much. there are times when something goes wrong. i have successfully SBF'ed 2 times with no issues. i just make sure i have the right file, and it is a good download.

I am rooted but I do not know much about how to get rid of programs. For some reason I have 2 quickoffice programs on my phone along with some other that I am not sure need to be there. Would you mind telling me which ones I would be ok getting rid of and how to get rid of them? I am dealing with the issue of having no memory, therefore the need to clean some things up. I do clear cache everyday.

Thanks in advance for your help, let me know if there is any additional information I need to submit.

Are you actually getting out of memory errors?

Removing preinstalled apps will prevent you from getting updates to the OS.

That's why people recommend freezing, renaming, or my preference, moving them to a different directory.

Most of the apps you would want to remove are in /system/app.

I created a directory called /system/app/APPS and moved things like CityID, Blockbuster, VZnavigator, etc, to that directory.

In the event I get an update all I have to do is go to my terminal emulator, cd /system/app/APPS, mv * ..

That to me is much easier than renaming each file, and it doesn't cost me anything.
