I clicked the link from my doid then i intalled the 2.0 tether patck apk. after it completed the download it tapped it and selected application loader i believe it was called then it asked did i want to replace the existing tether i said yes. next the program asked did i want to reset settings i said yes. I then opened the tether app and went into setup i changed the ssid to my name. Next went to my laptop and viewed network connection and clicked the network that just named. It then connected to the network and i am currently using it.
alrite did all your steps...still don't see it on my laptop....When you click the tether app and click the middle to start tethering, what does the kB numbers say on the bottom?

3.92 mb and 1700.5kb my phone is operating on 3g network i did have to make sure that in the setup menu you have only checked don't disable wifi nothing else is checked , meaning don't check blue tooth or enable wifi encyption then click the network connection icon on your pc and hit the refresh button in the network connection menu to make sure it will bring up your droid as a network

Can you start a new thread with this fix so others can find easily? I would try to do it but it might take me forever. i was searching threw threads and just figured i would try to download it and see if it could fix my problem. LUCKY GUESS!

My question never did get answered...
Im rooted now but havent flashed any roms...the only thing I have is Superuser and setCpu.

If I choose to d/l this app and flash this stuff over to my phone will I still get the OTA from Verizon...and if so will and I choose to take it...will I loose root and change over to stock 2.1?

I like the idea of being able to play with this stuff now but I would like to progress with the Verizon updates...

???

i am not ignoring you i was searching the site and writing my term paper at the same time. Ok from what I am seeing it looks like it will block ota, but the ota will remove root, but sholes will push an ota to you I am still searching for where it was discussed before.

Yeah I remember seeing it somewhere before too...I thought it said that we have to disable OTA's manually? ...or we would still receive them from Verizon.

Once 2.1 is released OTA I want to revert back to stock.
