ok this one is for car guys/girls how about an app that you can input your car make/model/year and then input the engine code when the check engine light comes on so that it lists the code and problem like an obd tool

Are you talking about just a searchable database of codes or a full OBD-II interface?

searchable database/ considering that the driver would have to buy an obd connector that has a small usb connector for the phone that would be awesome but more costly a project because then the owner would have to search out the cable.
it would be cool if the database also contained a setup that would send you a list of parts/ideas of what cause the code other than something like

p0102 02 sensor failure

it could go something like:

p0102 02 sensor failure
Average cost for part $23
est. install time 30 minutes
difficulty of install easy

of course thats just an idea

Not a bad idea. I did a quick search and came across a couple of companies attempting to develop a bluetooth / wifi obd connector with corresponding software for Android. Something exists for the iphone and winmo already, but i can't find anything really solid for our platform.

ive searched too im a huge car guy and its nice to be able to pull a code realquick and reference it on the fly instead taking it somewhere and have them pull it or pay $100 for an obd scanner that gives you an idea of the issue but no help for a solution.

that would be a great app. if someone could pull it off. would be really helpful

on a similar direction, being a big motorcycle person I thought an app to make adjustments to a bike's Power Commander instead of having to use a laptop, would be a great idea. I would think that cords wouldn't be such a factor as PCs area already have USB connectivity.

Power Commander

ok so thats 3 people interested counting myself im not a big bike guy but im asuming what your getting at would be possible with the phone pretty much like a car programmer
