Anyone having problems with 2.2.1 update?

Hi Guys,

I recently installed (a week or so ago) 2.2.1 update OTA. Since that time, my phone seems to be very slow in spots, and also locks up at least one time a day. I have probably needed to pull my battery a minimm of 2 times a day since the update.

Another issue I'm having is that my battery now dies SOOOO fast. I only used it for about 1 hour at most today (talking/txt/web etc.) and by 1130am, the phone was completely dead. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is draining my battery so much since the update. I have not installed any new apps, and I've actually even set my display brightness nower than it was before the update.

Anyone seeing similar issues after updating to 2.2.1 and any ideas/hacks/fixes for these issues would be much appreciated. Thank you!

A factorty restore will probably fix it. It will erase everything (not sdcard) but will prolly fix your issues.

Stelv: The interesting thing is, my friend updated the same day that I did, and he's having all the same issues suddenly, just like me.

If I factory restore, what is the best way (or is there a way) to easily backup all of my apps and put them back on the phone once it's restored? Also, what about all of the settings and contacts?

I am not sure actually. You may want to call Verizon and ask them about this. They may be able to guide you through a factory restore better.

The only reason I say factory restore is because when I have a problem with a custom rom (my phone is rooted) wiping my phone usually fixes it. You could have parts of the old system floating around still causing problems.

Your contacts and purchased apps should be backed up to your google account. Sign into your google email and the market on computer to double check that they are. They should return when u sign back into your Google account after restore. You can also use backup assistant if u want. You may want to backup some things from your sdcard just incase...but that should be fine.

Your settings and free apps will be erased most likely.

But like I said call verizon and tell them you were told a factory restore might fix your issues. But don't mention that you heard it from a guy that has a rooted phone...they don't like that lol.

I had similar problems, as have several others. You might have to contact VZW.

Although after 4 devices doing the same thing, I ended up going with the option to switch models.

However, I never had these problems when I went with xda devs vs. stock. But ultimately I decided I shouldn't have to root and flash just because samsung devs seem to be sitting on their thumbs.

If you stay with a fascinate, tapout and hecantbreathe will never do you wrong, and can get you out of almost any root/flash pickle you get yourself into :p

Backup your apps with astro file manager. Find something to backup you sms if you want them. Backup assistant should already have your contacts backed up.

Do the factory reset, reload astro via marketplace, and restore your data. You will have to go through the initial setup after the reset.
