Announcing our new sister site - Microsoft Surface Forum!

Yea...I remember that.. Microsoft doesn't get alot of credit for Surface and the technology involved with it.

It was REALLY amazing. I'm pretty sure they started working on it way back in 2000. I mean, when you look at some "vision" videos for it, that came out WAY before the iPad did, and the stuff you could do on that was really thinking ahead.

I think they could do that stuff now with NFC and Bluetooth. Like they had people putting digital cameras on this, and having it connect and what not.

They reinvented the Asus Transformer??

That's what I was thinking, lol... Someone earlier was leading to it being new, sorry already been done. Granted that this might be more powerful (in the higher-end configuration) but as for the 'Tablet' it's not new. Not to mention there are several BT keyboard solutions out there. I doubt the high-end configuration is going to be anywhere new the 'tablet' price. HP tried with the Slate (which is amazing) but the cost is well over $1k when it was released (though it too had a keyboard accessory). Still for the tablet configuration I would consider it over my Transformer if the price is reasonable

I may have to pick up one of these. They look intense. The one that runs the i5 will probably be running games no problem.

Too little too late in my opinion.
This should have been out at least 2 years ago. We know they had the technology with Surface.
I am an MS fan but I am annoyed by the many ways they mishandled... everything.

They come out with a touch screen phone.. that looked like windows. Complete with START button.
They refused to innovate while Google and Apple kicked their butts. They fiddled while Rome burned.
They completely turned there backs on WinMoby 6.5 when they finally tried to play catch up.
4 years later after Apple reinvents phones, they come out with something decent... after their market share dropped to nothing.
They come out with a new OS (Win8) that they are going to force you into using with a Windows Email address.. hope you need yet another one... so they can rope you into the MS way of life by marrying your PC to your tablet.

Sorry. I will be a loyal Androidian and will be holding on to Win7 for as long as I possible can. Not to mention I am so buried in the Android eco-system there is no way I am starting over now. ANother reason MS is going to have a hard time moving these.
They NEED to compete on price or they will get "Xoomed". (Xoomed = pricing your tuff higher then the market leader so no one has any interest in buying your products.....)

My 2 cents.

I can't wait for the surface to be released. Should be a nice complement to WP. The only drawback I see is initially there won't be as many apps, but Microsoft is doing a really good job of attracting devs, so that might not be a problem for long.
