Yeah. Where the Angry Birds crew has a leg up on the competition as far as creating a movie from a game is that the game is so simple. It's not like they've got some awesome story line to follow. In fact, it wouldn't upset me if they never once shot out of a slingshot at a pig.
IMO, where other game movies tend to fail is because they take a game that's very popular, one that already has a diehard following in many cases, and then they tweak the story, characters, etc. and it makes members of that diehard following angry.
I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies (for the most part), but I was never HUGE into those games. I've only ever played a few hours of a few different games in that series.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the Assassin's Creed movie though and I've played all of the good games in that series and really enjoyed them.
I think they could make that movie with the main character not having been in any of the games and still make a great movie, if done right. It's an intriguing premise to me for sure.
So, after all of that rambling, depending on the rating this ends up with, I'm sure we'll be seeing this movie with the stepson. If not, I'll likely stream it later.
