Before there was the "flash-in-the-pan" Flappy Birds, there was Angry Birds. It was the first gigantic gaming hit on Android to feature furiously flapping foul. It also happens to be from a full sized gaming company and has spawned over half a dozen sequels and/or spin-offs. Whether you are sick and tired of Angry Birds games or not, apparently there is still a large market out there of folks who either haven't played the game, or are simply huge fans of it.

That leads us to now. Just yesterday, Rovio, the makers of Angry Birds, announced their new Angry Birds spinoff called Angry Birds Stella. Although no gameplay details were shared, what's new and fresh about Stella is that it will be more than just a game to Rovio. In fact, the game will be specifically aimed at girls and will delve into artistic territory by focusing on “inspiration, empowerment, and other real issues.” Here's a bit more from Rovio CEO, Mikael Hed,

Angry Birds Stella is breaking the mould by introducing strong, passionate characters who really stand for something, while adding plenty of action and reality into the mix. The Angry Birds Stella story will live and evolve across physical and digital, bridging them in fun and innovative ways.

Despite not knowing anything about the gameplay mechanics it sounds intriguing. What do you guys think? Could the folks at Rovio refresh your interest in the Angry Birds franchise?
