android OS deleting texts over 2 months old?

i had my phone since june (droid 4) and i just realize my texts only go back to october 12th, how do i change this so it doesnt delete my texts!??? i understand the 1000 message limit with 1 person but not the 2 month thing
i have droid 4 and ics

Try going into your messaging app and open settings. Scroll down until you see "delete old messages" and turn that option off. If its not in the first page of options, the start going through the lists to find it. Its in there somewhere. Also make sure that option is off in the stock messaging app if you are using a different app (go SMS, handcent, etc...).
 
Are you using the stock messaging app? If yes, try using Go sms. It has the option for not deleting older texts. Also if you really need text messages that are that old you can install a sms backup app. Go sms has that option built in I believe. I delete all mine on a regular basis (3-4 weeks).
