Android media scanner on Pro...

[Solved] Android media scanner on Pro...

Anyone has any troubles with big sdhc (16gb lexar, sandisk, etc...etc...)? Because my PRO hungs up (blank screen, but i can receive the calls, but i can't answer...) with android media scanner (i've 4000+ pics), with my SE X10 mini I didn't have this trouble.
I've also formatted the sd card.

Thank You!!

I use a 16GB Sandisk card with no problems. I had previously tried to use a 32GB card I purchased off ebay and it wouldn't work. I ran a verify utility against the card and it failed big time. Lots of garbage on ebay, especially from China. New card was purchased from a reputable retailer in the US and it works fine. Not sure what you mean by "media scanner" though. I loaded my card with about 15 GB of music and the music player works fine against it.

...... Not sure what you mean by "media scanner" though......

Media scanner is an android's process that scans our sd for media files. It takes about 10 seconds to start when you turn on your phone... You can also disable this process with "rescan media root".
Infact when I disable this process, my sd works in the proper way...
My sd is lexar...

you may want to run a verifiation check on your SD to make sure it's not bad. I found one called h2testw.exe, it writes to the entire disk and then tries to read from the entire disk. Mine was a Lexington and it failed miserably. Maybe the media scanner is hanging up while trying to read your card....?

So if you removed the 4000 pix the Pro would work fine? Wow. I have 15GB of music (about 5000 songs) and I've never had this problem. I wonder if the media scanner works differently when reading pix vs. music?

Yes, because for .jpg the mediascanner creates a lot of thumbs....
Ok....
Solved!
My sdhc sandisk 16gb class 2: hangs up
My sdhc 8gb genral brand: hangs up
My 16gb class 6 lexar: hangs up
My 16gb kingston class 2 OK!!! (On my SE X10mini hangs up..)
All cards are ok with h2testw.exe...
