Android File Transfer not recognizing phone

The AFT app isn't recognizing my DROID RAZR M. I deleted the app and redownloaded it, but nothing changed, if I plug into my phone it does not open automatically like it used to. I will then open the app manually, and it tells me no phone is found. What do i do? I'm on a mac running the latest software.

I would check for a new version of the Motorola update manager first to fix any driver issues!

I just plugged in my phone and it tells me "Install Motorola Device Manager". I did, and then replugged it in, and it tells me to do the same thing, download. Trying it again.

I saw your other post around the forums. I'm pretty decent with the Mac because of my job but let me know if anyone has already looked into this for you.

I've done this four times in slightly varied ways, it's not working, I cannot even find the Motorola manager on my computer, and because of this Android File Transfer, which does run when my phone gets plugged in, tells me "Could not connect to device. Try reconnecting or restarting your device." What do I do to fix this?

Since this is a Mac, this is where I come in. So, I don't know how familiar you are with Macs so if I sound like I'm talking to you like a child just give me a virtual slap and put me in my place. All apps on the Mac are found in the Applications folder. You can find this by opening Finder (Smiley face guy on the doc) or what I do at my job: click on the wallpaper and then look for the 'Go' menu up at the top. Look for the application there, but if the Mac itself is not even recognizing it then there are even bigger problems so this is where I have a few questions and bear with me cause this will seem a little...droll.

1. What happens when you plug in your Moto? Does any application open? Do any error messages get thrown up there?
2. Does Finder see your phone? Open Finder look on the left hand side and under the 'Devices' Section you should see it. (iPhones usually show up here too.
3. The 'varied ways' you are talking about pertains to what? Did you try different USB ports, etc.?
4. Speaking of that, what kind of Mac is this? iMac or Macbook?

Biggest troubleshooting step you can do at this point: Restart both devices. Unplug your Moto and restart your Mac and the phone itself.

Next, check your Devices menu (I forget what the official term of it at the moment). Just click on the black Apple in the upper left, click on About this Mac then click More Info. On the left-hand side look for USB. If you need a visual representation: HERE. Do you see your Moto here? I'm not sure what it will be called but something should be listed that would give it away. After that, report back and let me know your finding or if you have already tried it...there's always that virtual slap ;)

I'm having the same issue with the app.
Using MBP 13"
Android File Transfer for Mac
Browse and transfer files between your Mac computer and your Android device.

App simply will not see phone
keeps saying restart device.
Done already- both devices.
Soon as you click away the warning,
the app quits as well.

I briefly see S4 as a drive, and it vanishes also.
Yet phone says connected as a media device.
Started App at 2am, just to make sure I wasn't caught in April 1st joke syndrome.

Using new usb cable - 18" long. I give up.
Just wanted to be able to transfer computer's PDF
file to phone, Is how this process started last nite.

Sorry about that, I have no real solution, no quick tricks or anything.

I'm a MAC user as well and have had issues with AFT for years. Seems every time Apple does an OS update the App stops working. Seems the App is never updated.

I should have noted I'm still on 10.6,8,
and that's getting pretty ancient already.

May have to come up with simple site to send PDF file to first,
Then open/save with phone. As if sending file here as attachment.
DropBox is one option I guess.
Removing MicroSD card to adapter - to computer seems a bit much.
Thanks for the tip.
