Android expert please explain something to me

Let me start by saying I'm good with technology. I just want to know what all these "out of the box" things I can do with this phone meaning all the crazy capabilities. I mean I see all the cool applications I can download and stuff but I feel like I'm missing something. I just feel like everyone is saying the droid can do so many more things than the iphone and i'm really just curious as to some of the "advanced" things it can do. Also, are there any general knowledge things I should know? I love the phone I really just wanna learn the most I can about it.

Well speaking of iPhone i would say:

Widgets! Google VOice navigation Google maps and FULL google support.
For a Milestone: multitouch
Running simultaneous apps

being a previous iphone user i can definitely say it is great being able to use it as a mass storage device. also the expandable memory and the ability to multitask without having to close another application.

Customizing Your Screens

Here is one for u.
If u like the way your home screen is leave it.
If u want it a lil less clutter, and u do a lot of net
surfing here is something nice to play with.
U know u can add widgets and folders by holding
down a blank spot on your screen to bring up that menu.
Here is one go into your browser and add your favorite
websites. Now after that if u don't want to open up
your brower all the time but u wanna just access
your favorite sittes. Hold down a blank space on your
screen and bring up widget shortcut menu. U can from
there add shortcuts to all those websites that u just addded
as favorites. U can have a screen dedicated to net short cuts
or u can open up that widget menu add a folder and drag
all your net shortcuts into that.
U can do that for all of the like programs that relate to each
other.
If u don't want an icon on your screen that is already there simply
press down on it and drag it to that tab that opens up the program screen
and it will take it off the screen. U are not deleting it just moving it
off the screen.
All of the programs that u buy from the market place are going to
that program screen. The easiest way I have found to get programs
to your different screens is this. Say if u want the camera on the right
screen. Simply slide to the right screen open up that program tab at the
bottom of the screen press and hold the camera icon til it vibrates and
it will bring up that icon on that screen. To me it is a heck of a lot
easier than dragging it. At least til u get the hang of it.
There are free widgets for clocks etc in the mkt place.
Also u can remove that google search bar if u like by holding it
and dragging it down down to that program tab below. U can put
it back on that screen or others by going to your widget screen and adding
goodble search. That is something for u to play with.
Remember when u slide an item down to that program tab u are not
permanently deleting u are just moving it off the screen.

Oh when u get and sms message or an email.U will see a symbol at the top of your screen. U can tap the top of your screen to open it up an get your emails or sms messages. Also it is a status of what was loaded from mkt place.
Feel free to pm me if u like I will share what I know. But this is what I have learned so
far. I take it u haven't been able to put music on your phone if so let us know

thank you for the well informed detailed messages . . . i have been able to put music and even ROM's on my phone actually but still feel like i'm missing something haha. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but can't wait to see all the cool things people do with their phones soon.
