Android 2.3 for Moto Droid 1?

Will there be a Android 2.3 update for Motor Droid 1? I looked online but could not find an answer :-/

Welcome to DroidForums!! As far as an OTA from Motorola/Verizon, more than likely but it'll probably be a while. Rooted users have development ROM releases to play around with now though!

Judging by those development builds the D1 can more than handle gingerbread. So I'm confident the D1 should get an OTA
