Android 2.2 - Froyo

its not possible anyone ported it, as deodexing throws up constant errors. its already been tried by quite a few people.

I just saw some new screens on Droid life showing the about screen and it looks like no wifi tethering but we do get USB tethering...

That is disappointing and does not make much sense to me... If you have usb tethering then why not wifi tethering?

much easier to milk the data with wifi... can't hook up 4 laptops via usb

Yep, that makes as much sense as blocking my TiVo from transferring HD shows but the digital broadcast of the same channel is ok.

If we don't get the new launcher I will be genuinely upset. I think not having those buttons has been a mistake. They should be standard in all Android versions from here on out.

I do like the new camera, stock apps2sd, stock wired tether, new carhome, etc. But we are just now getting the 2.1 launcher after its outdated. Kinda lame. Oh well someone will port it for us, like the 2.1 launcher.

Makes sense, but I would be much happier if they had only allowed one "wifi" tether at a time rather than not allowing it. Who knows maybe it is still in the works... just not ready yet.

the root wifi tethering will still work.
again, sucks to be unrooted, you get what they want to give you.
rooted= get whatever you want.
