2.2 comes with Overclocking support, obviously.

So basically sicne you've been chosen to test. Can you explain (even though you dont have to) the reasoning behind not being able to discuss or release to us?

Not being a bastard just curious. I know its a test and whatnot. Also..Whats up with the launchers not being the same?

I've also seen a pic of "2.2 for Droid" and it has the superuser .apk installed. IDK, but that doesn't seem normal to me either...

first about tethering. We can already download a market program to tether. So what is the big deal??
BUT-- I can not wait for 2.2. I understand it will have true handsfree bluetooth. That was not mentioned in the I/O day 2 Keynote. It seems to me that true hands free is extremely important!!!!! Oh yes and does anybody know if copy/paste has been made easier?

Haven't seen the copy/paste thing on this update, no. Bluetooth hands free, yes.

As silly as it seems, I'm really looking forward to being able to organize my contacts by last name finally.

They didn't mention full bluetooth support because the fact it didn't have it to begin with was a joke. When you're 35 years old, you don't go around screaming "I'VE DONE IT, I'VE FINALLY LOST MY VIRGINITY!" You just keep it to yourself.

Why does one of the pics have setCPU?

DROID SNAP ON & HOLSTER | IBD Electronics

Good catch. So you received 2.2, rooted it, created some overclocked kernels for 600 mhz, and then took the pictures?

JhankG, you have been nut swinging all morning, get off. SetCPU can be loaded onto any device rooted/unrooted. I inculded it to show that the new kernel runs @ 600mhz not 550. Correct that is not the baseband for the Droid it has already been updated 2x (which means twice). I'm not sure when this will be released but when it is, can i get my nutz back, seems your still swining on them.

Based on...the fact that I untied your knotted tampon string earlier this afternoon when you had a little ***** fit?

Go take some Midol so you can relive that irritability and those cramps, k?

Also, I don't know what "swining on nuts" means. Is that something that you crazy kids are into these days? Sounds a bit out there for my taste, but I'll mention it to my wife.

Guys... Keep it civil. There is no reason for you guys to lash out at each other.

If we don't get the new launcher I will be genuinely upset. I think not having those buttons has been a mistake. They should be standard in all Android versions from here on out.
I agree, I would really like to see that new launcher. But I suppose I would still be satisfied if we just get that speed boost from the new just in time compilation addition.

We will notice a very nice improvement from JIT now that it's officially supported by Google and we will get software that can take advantage of it.

Careful about mentioning "nut swinging" to your wife! She may take it literally and pull a Tarzan on your ass. The only problem is that you'll be the one screaming! :icon_eek:

any idea why the Droid is not seeing the same performance gains on Linpack as the N1. This is only ~2x not 4-5x as seen on the N1.
