hello all,
First of all i hope this thread is in the correct place. If not admins please move it to the right place.

Finally i'm going to get my droid 4 in a week so i started to collect tools and rooms that i will use and to read a lot about the questions come to surface.

so my route is this:

1) let the device get the ics OTA update
2) root it by using droid 4 ics tool
3)install safestrap 3.05 http://http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
4) make a nandroid backup of my nonsafe (at that time my only) system with safestrap
5) install eclipse 1.3.4 http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-4-roms/223965-eclipse-ics-droid-4-a.html
6) sync my google data (contacts, calendar etc) with phone
7) make a nandroid backup of eclipse (just to make things easier if anything happens)
8) overclock to a lower power consumption. how to?????????????????

and i also have a couple of questions:

1) what happens if my battery dies when i'm running stock or eclipse rom?
2) what size of partition should i choose for eclipse rom slot?
(i'll be first time android user so probably install lots of apps)
3) is there any other steps i should add to my to do list?
4) am i missing something?

thank you in advance

ok.. after lots of reading i found these instructions about over/underclocking:

after installing custom, boot into android
boot back into safestrap
install 1320 oc than speedscript and the extra governors in that order
reboot and install setcpu, and pick what you want

my other questions still remain unanswered. my search for the truth continues!

1. not sure I understand the question. if your battery runs out of juice, recharge it. you probably don't want to do the safestrap/eclipse install without a full charge, though.

2. I think that 1 GB is plenty big, but you can certainly use 2 GB. the main downside that I can see to the bigger slot is it limits how many slots you can use.

note that the 1320 oc script installs the governors for you...

pretty sure not. I've run mine down several times, and it's always charged right back up.

My 2 cents on the issue is to Wipe the SD Cards just after rooting.

Reason: So far on 3 phones, the partitions on the SD card was causing weird lockup issues after loading custom roms. I had tried lots of other fixes, but none of them worked at all. The issue appears to be related to some music indexing that loops and either never finishes or gets stuck, sucking the life out of your battery in the process. Formatting and having the SD card blank after install fixed it for all 3 (mine and 2 co-workers) phones.
