Alldroid.org has been closed indefinitely.

Droidmod.org has reported that the person who had control of Alldroid.org’s hosting package (Slicehost) has cancelled the account.

This comes very sudden and unexpectedly. It is a huge loss to the Android community.

Hopefully, their HUGE data-base was backed up and there is still hope of recovering the data. It's a tragic loss if this turns out not to be the case. Some phenomenal work came out of Alldroid.

We'd like to open our doors to the Android/Alldroid community and welcome them to Droid Forums if they are in need of a new home.

We'd also like to extend our condolenses to the great developers who may have lost months and months of their hard earned work.

**UPDATE 5/09/2010: Alldroid will no longer exist. It has been taken down permanently. See Blog below:**

**Update to the Update** : Will AllDroid be around any more? YES! Talked to the other Admin and he understands why I did what I did and will be making sure AllDroid and ALL its content will be up with in the next day or two.

"Its gone and forever will be. Nor the name, content or anything from that site will no longer be around. People are saying its because of money and it was never from the start nor at the end. Want to know really why its gone? The other Admins who think they ran it who where just back end people. They forced people out and caused to much drama. This was a full time job and it went to fair… The drama I was having to deal with everyday made the choice easy.
The whole High School **** that was going on was and is pathetic so it had to end so I did that. Why I did send out an email to admins and a couple other people to see if they wanted to buy was strictly to keep the site around. For those who said it was about the money I’ve already had a couple offers to buy site and I’ve said no. The content nor the name can be used any more and I’ve already contacted my lawyer about this and will and go after all those who try and use it for there own gain(money). This community needs to grow up and realize thats its not a high school, most the Dev’s are in there 20’s and 30’s and don’t want to deal with the bull**** crap people do. If you look at those who pull **** you’ll also realize they are in high school and need to grow up. Will AllDroid be around any more? NO. case closed."

Actually no, its not, its gone for good, i was talking to the owner when it happened, it happens to be in part with mismanagement and the site going to crap. In return, i said it could have been the right idea, too bad, i just opened my new site, merely-droid.net, and i seen people coming over. LOL, funny part is.... well there really is nothing funny about it. Im just glad all that damn drama is dead.

one of the Admins sent a email to everyone with DEV status on all droid. So the Devs had a bit of a heads up this the one I got!

So they had a few days notice! hope all the devs there backed up their stuff!

Good. I had tried to sign up for an account over there months ago and had issues with the registration and couldn't get help from any of the admins. They never even returned any of my e-mails or correspondence through their contact us form. Was a very poorly run site IMO.

Lately the only reading I was doing there was to see if Adamz was going to pop back in. He hadn't posted in a while and I figured he either was busy working on his next rom, had moved on bought some sort of non-android phone (ack!) or some other RL issue had presented itself to him and he was taking a break. Odd that he hadn't at least posted to say "stuffs come up, be back in a month" though. He may have never even gotten the warning email. However, I bet most devs are packrats and keep copies of their work on their own computers too. I can't imagine them thinking "ok, my stuff is on this forum over there now, no reason to keep it myself any longer".

I don't feel bad for alldroid but do feel for those who visited there and called the place home.

Thank you DF for creating a stable environment for us here. These communities do cost money to run. That and a lot of hours. Hopefully the income matches the outgo so not much comes out of the owner's pockets. The fact that new sites are opened for new phones indicates their model is working.

It's the members of this forum that make the difference. Where else are you going to find a Rescue Squad, a Beta Team, with guys volunteering their services and expecting nothing in return.

I think I went to alldroid once maybe to get an .apk file. Still, I wish them best and hope they can make a recovery. I don't travel around the web too far, I find most everything I need here.

Same here, when I got my droid I looked around to find a great place for info on the phone and operating system. And like Hook I have found it here at DF.

I went there last night while browsing the Zeusdroid ROM section here and someone mentioned it was down. If you click on an alldroid link it points to another site. (check the address bar) I been there, it looks like they may have backed up stuff. Its hard to tell.

Wow, I figured Alldroid would around forever. I just joined the forum a couple of months ago. I thing Droidforums was the better of the two but most people got their start at Alldroid.
