Alarm will not ring

Can't figure it out. The ringtone works fine on phone calls, call come in, phone rings. BUT, the alarm and countdown will not ring when the time has come. I have it on vibrate also, and it vibrates, but with the sound on Ringtones, when the time is due, the phone will not ring?????
