I have search the forum for help with this topic, but have not found what I am looking for. Please forgive an old guy for asking what may have already been answered.

Two days ago, I finally decided to let Verizon upgrade my phone. They kept sending me reminders. So I used GScript Lite to re-bloat my phone and z4root to remove the root. (Thanks to the creators of those fine programs, by the way. They were wonderful.) The phone is running Android 2.33.

I downloaded the update and ran it. It scared me at first because several features were sluggish or non functioning. After rebooting the phone 3 times, those problems vanished. Yes, my battery life seems to have improved. I even got used to the new look, though I preferred the old. Neither z4root or GScript Lite seem to work on my phone, alas!

But now I am looking for a one-click script to re-root my phone and to de-bloat my phone. It appears that the folks who enjoy doing these projects have all moved on to newer devices, and new one-clicks may never again appear for the Droid 2 Global.

I would love to find out that I am wrong, and will send a bag of Kona coffee to the one who helps me reactivate Wifi Tether, or an equivalent.
Aloha,
Konabob

You need the DROID3 One-Click Root script, or Pete's Motorola Root Tools, or any other implementation that works on a DROID3, DROIDX, DROIDX2, DROID2, DROID2 GLOBAL, DROID RAZR, and all other phones using Motorola's Gingerbread firmware.

forgot about that, not sure where that was suppose to go, you may not need drivers just the one click root

1. Download and
Fully Unzip 'Droid3_Easy_Root_v7d' - LINK Droid3_Easy_Root_v7d
2. On your phone: Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging(check box)
3. Plug phone into computer and select "Charge Only" mode
4. Navigate to wherever you extracted it and run the file 'run_to_root_your_droid3.sh'
5. Now just follow the instructions in the command window and unlock the phone after each reboot.

Are you running stock, or some ROM? I thought (and it failed when I tried!) that OpenGarden doesn't work on stock unless you do the RadioComm hack.

sorry looks like I was wrong on OpenGarden, thought I had got it to work once, but it's not now
look for the global RadioComm hack to get around block Hacking/tweaking 3G settings and the radio driver

may work on
cm7gb
I flashed from .608 to revnunbers cm7gb kang about a week ago. Prior to that I was using "wireless tether" now I am using open garden. No problems whatsoever. I don't know everything, but this does work with cm7gb...

I am using a stock Droid 2 Global. After using Petes Root Tools, I installed Open Garden. It seems to be working just fine.
What is "RadioComm hack", and when or why would I use it?

I don't know exactly how this happens, but a number of people have reported success with several wifi tether apps, and then after a few uses the app fails and you are directed to the VZW tethering sign up (and pay) page. The RadioComm hack patches some settings (using a tool called RadioComm) to prevent this happening. Some custom ROMs already have these things patched.

But if it continues to work for you, then fine! (And let us know).
