A Thread Of Topics You Would Never Like To See Again

My thread that was deleted, "Found HTC Incredible." Will the people who were name calling me get 30 day vacation, as the rules say?

Let it go.....the mod made it clear. Take the droid to vzw and drop the subject. No one here is going to tell you how to unlock it. That would be both illegal and immoral.

I read that thread... you were asking how to be dishonest and not have to do the right thing... I think they went easy on you... DF doesn't tolerate any "how do I steal this" type stuff

I realize you found it .. or your friend did .. but a true android lifer would take that droid to the nearest verizon store or search the owners contact favorites and set up a cool suprise for the owner...

No biggie bro... I read the part about karma and how you changed your perspective... good deal... you just needed a nudge in the right direction...

True Ill drop it, good thing i returned the blackberry i found and asked him to return the droid; hope karma doesn't come around since i did good deed. So can someone direct me to the ZuesMod well the updates on RIL

Any thread that starts out "Should I Root or Install This App" surprises me. I'm imaging this person in a Walmart stopping a total stranger and saying, "Hey buddy, should I get this shirt or this one?" It's one thing to solicit information from experienced owners, but so many can be answered by saying, "Try it and see if it works for you."

My head just exploded...literally. I have head pieces all over my laptop as I type.

I have a question for you veterans of this forum...how the heck do you continue to come in here each day and not explode when you see peoples inability to read or search for something that has been asked and answered eleventy billion times?! I am seriously wondering how some of these people made it through life this far. I have seen so many repeat questions in the last week or so and it is driving me insane! Literally like 2 or 3 posts up from where they ask a question is the same question asked and answered...it honestly makes me want to put several threads on my blacklist!

Has anyone else noticed this in the past week or so? Or is it just my lack of sleep that is making me ultra sensitive?!

Anyways, thanks for allowing me to vent...I feel better now, slightly...I needed a place to vent and thought this thread was a good place for it.

I'll go back to picking up my head pieces now.

Nice thread. Hope I don't come off as harsh, but there are a few things that I'd change if I had the chance.

For starters, the amount of clutter from multiple threads, or topics that have gotten out of hand and relate nothing to the OP, is astounding. The search feature here (as in most other forums) is becoming more and more pointless to use, and I feel like I'm in one of those Bing commercials full of useless information.

I can't stand the amount of threads starting out as questions for Google Voice that end up pages full of "send me an invite." I've noticed an "official invite" thread, but I don't see it being enforced through other threads. maybe if an "official GV questions" thread were made as well, and other threads were appropriately merged and enforced?

There is an incredible amount of threads for EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING on Froyo. I, along with some other people, will not be using Froyo until source is released, and it would alleviate the headache of going through pages of Froyo to find something relevant to me if it were separated from 2.1 topics.

The "why did my thread get deleted" thread. I don't think I need to explain what's so annoying about this one, but is there any way when a topic is deleted to PM the original poster to let them know why, and to prevent this annoying annoyance? Or at least keep the thread up, but locked with a reason why, for a day or two before deleting (unless of course it's THAT bad). But this type of behavior seriously needs to be discouraged. It just brings a tiff among members and an excuse for flaming.

This one is just me complaining, so no one take it seriously, but can we delete every post that tells someone to use Handcent as a way to fix their text messaging problems? :P I personally don't like anything about that app, and it's annoying how so many people call praise to it, as if it's a messiah of some sort.

And, to end this, I'm just going to say there aren't nearly enough "I hate Apple" threads here. (PS, I'm being sarcastic)

I don't use the search in the forum. I use google, search term followed by the words Droid Forum. It works extremely well.

At each and every time I find a Google Voice thread I merge it with the appropriate thread. Either the one in the Incredible Forum or the Motorola Droid Forum.

I think that sticky could be in a better spot. But I wasn't the one who stuck it there. No matter where we put it people will still post up requesting GV invites or offering to give them away in the wrong areas.

If you're seeing that then it isn't due to lack of trying. Whenever I see a Froyo thread I try to merge it with one of 3 areas: More Froyo, Froyo Issues, and Official Froyo Broken Apps thread. We've worked real hard to try and limit the amount of Froyo threads, we are simply overwhelmed by them

We usually do this unless it's a matter of time. We do have real lives and sometimes we may only have time to delete the thread. In some cases it's quite obvious why the thread got deleted and no explanation is necessary.

This one is just me complaining, so no one take it seriously, but can we delete every post that tells someone to use Handcent as a way to fix their text messaging problems? :P I personally don't like anything about that app, and it's annoying how so many people call praise to it, as if it's a messiah of some sort.

That's your opinion. You are entitled to it, but others are entitled to have theirs too.

And, to end this, I'm just going to say there aren't nearly enough "I hate Apple" threads here.

Yes, I totally agree specially since I have a Mac. I'm also against the "I hate Steve Jobs" threads. I have my own opinions as to why people start this but I'd prefer not to get into it.

I appreciate the quick response, and I don't mean to sound like I'm knocking the moderators. I know this is a very large community, and I'm sure the work is pretty daunting. It is nice to know that people are doing their job, and I can understand being overwhelmed with too much at once.

I'm definitely going to have to use that search trick next time I need to find something.

The Handcent comment was just me being silly. I wouldn't ask anything to be done about it. If it's a good enough app for people to refer it so much, then let them.

Also, the Apple comment was also a joke. I'm definitely an Apple hater for sure, but I'm not going to run around and blatantly rip on it unless properly deemed so, or can be viewed by all in a humorous manner. I've got my reasons, just as fans have theirs, and I'm not going to throw my opinion around without being asked.

Again, Hook. Thank you for the quick response, and in showing that this is a place where those in charge actually care. It's definitely encouraging to know :)

As a former teacher I can assure you that the world is full of people who want someone else to do their homework.

As for how such folks make it through life, I think it's just the nature of the world. For example, I used to teach statistics. In a typical class I'd say about a third of my students ever grasped the essential features of the subject. That's OK; I just figured that the rest would go into some career that didn't require them to use the subject matter.

Lo and behold, when I left teaching and went into the business world I repeatedly encountered the same type of people who didn't "get it" in my stat classes out there trying to do jobs that required those skills. <sigh>

I have been wanting to bring this back to the front, but without valid reason thus far....So here it goes, I could really do without another [Where can I download Swype] thread

It's real simple. To reply to those posters, one applys canned replied saved from the millions of previous times one has previously replied.

Hook has about 1.3 to the 5th power text files all containing variations of "Please do not cross post". :)

It always does my heart good to see this old thread get revived again.

Some progress has been made of task killer threads since Martin put the sticky with Google's official opinion in the OP.

With the release of the Incredible, The Droid X and the Droid 2 have come an enormous amount of threads where the same answer that applied to the Droid works for them.

Another new pet peeve. "Help, I got my Droid wet." In our FAQ'S we have a complete how to on how to properly take care of it. Nobody searches. And it seems by the time they post about it 24 hours has already gone by.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-faq/8539-how-deal-droid-thats-gotten-wet-right-way.html

Found it in under 30 seconds.

And the last recent one is people who purchase this phone and have no idea it's a Google phone or what that means. Don't remember their Google log in, and can't answer the security question. And then are angry when they find out it is a google phone.

One more: How do I configure Microsoft Outllook for the Droid. Uusally goes with the paragraph above this one

With the release of the DX and D2 there is always the good old [pick my Droid for me] thread

A lot of the repeating threads I can understand (even though there is a search feature and Google) but not all new forum members are
aware of that, so some leniency is appropriate...but choose my next device for me, that one I just don't get
