A few questions new with android phone

Do I need any virus protection app on my phone..either when get stuff off the market or over the web and also is the app killer neccesary or bad for my phone

No need for anti virus as there are no viruses. There is potentially malware or spyware which is also unlikey. Best advice is to download reputable apps after reading the comments and check all permissions.

You shouldn't have to worry about viruses with android. Also, app killers are pretty much useless with android 2.2

Android os has its own native task manager that handles tasks. It keeps some in the background but not quite running, just ready to be started. Well when you use a task killer to kill those apps its really just wasted energy because they will start themselves back up. Just use the back key instead of the home key to exit apps and don't worry too much about the rest of it.

The verizon rep downloaded the ap killer on my Droid 2 - so I need to delete it?
