3G PROBLEMS PlZ HELP!!!!!!!

I need help I have a Motorola milestone and I know how to do the *#*#....... in dail pad but don't know how to keep 3g on it work if I turn on airplane mode then cuts off but doesn't work if I turned mobile network and stuff on please help!!!!!!
