If you use the tethering app from the Google code server you should be able to do full hotspot if you're rooted on a Droid 2. If you're having issues, check the settings.

Hadn't heard this...you're saying the D2 can do hotspot w/out enabling the service through verizon after rooting?
Steps/apps details?
I've used wifi tether on my D1 and D2 to tether my laptop, but never tried, and didn't know if that's what you're saying, that the wifi tether app could support multiple concurrent connections. That's not what you're saying, is it?
Man i dont care how I tether as long as I can tether. Now ad-hoc does kill a battery, but if u plan on tethering for that long I suggest keep your droid plugged into a wall outlet.
OK - I'm a believer! D2 does more than D1...tether has become hotspot!
Just hooked up my laptop and one of my printers (new web-enabled printer from HP) to my phone at the same time. Both are listed in the connect list, and both work - running print apps on the printer that come over the web and posting this from my laptop.
Very cool - don't know why this benefit of the D2 has been so well hidden!
I'll rarely need a wifi hotspot, but it is great to know it's there when I want it.
