2X telephoto lens

When taking a still picture, does the main camera lens automatically switch to the 2X telephoto lens when you start to zoom in on your subject? I haven't messed with the camera too much yet. Just curious. Thanks.

I believe it's 2X to start .. and as you turn in you can see it adjust up till 8x
