225 contacts missing out of nowhere.

After a routine reboot, I noticed that 225 of my 235 contacts were missing from my phone.
These contacts included multiple clients, my boss, my girlfriend, my guitarist, and my brother.

Re-syncing hasn't gotten them back. I went into Gmail to restore the contacts, and... nothing. No matter how far back I turn the clock, all of my contacts are seemingly permanently gone.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

How did you get your contacts to your device originally?

I don't bother with syncing my contacts. Whenever I make a change I export them to my sdcard, and my sdcard gets backed up to my pc.

They're gone in PC gmail as well.
I managed to restore them from a nandroid, then weed out everyone I had deleted or changed.

Anyone know how to FORCE gmail and the phone contact list to synchronize?

I heard about that. But all my email contacts are there, and so are my emails.

Atleast the account didnt disappear on you. Also glad you had a nandroid to go off of. Reloading contacts is a pain tho especially when you have to weed out all the old numbers and double numbers

Verizon's backup assistant is worthless, too.
Last time I used it, I got back contacts from 2006.

That's the question I'm asking: why won't it sync, manually or automatically?

Are your contacts that you want synced under "My Contacts?" in gmail. If not move them over there on a computer in gmail Then go to your D2, select contacts and tap it until you gmail comes up. All your contacts should show up in that category.

No, they're nowhere in gmail.

But you got them back on your phone after a nandroid backup, right?

The first thing you need to do is export all your contacts to a VCF file from your contacts menu. That way you've got a hard copy, no matter what.

Then go to contacts.google.com and upload your VCF file. That should get them back into google, so they'll be pushed to your phone from then on.
