2 sd card failures in 3 weeks

Anyway I'm looking for some input from you fellow geeks. I have lost 2 sdcards in the past 3 weeks... sectors die. My ROM is a melting pot of Virgin OEM, sholesmod 1.2, 1.1, Taz kernel 950 and a lot of other tweaks. However, no compcache, and no swap. I went to verizon today and they are replacing the phone and the sd card for the second time.... My question though, is it possible that something somewhere in my rom could be causing sd card failure?

i've only had one scare when it told me "sd card damaged" after i did a battery pull it was fine.
