Same question, with a variation though. I'm on stock 2.2 and what if I wanted to go back to stock 2.1? I still have the 2.1 update zip file on my computer, would I be able to flash back to that in the same method that I manually updated to 2.2? Or would I need to RSD lite all the way back to the 2.0.1 sbf, then update to 2.1?
Hi,
I manually updated to Android 2.2(45mb file), I was wondering if there was a way I can return my phone to Stock 2.1 so I can root. Will Rsd lite work? Any help T.I.A.
You have to under stand that this is a mandatory update. Unless you root your phone you cannot stay at 2.1, which IMHO is far, far inferior to 2.2.
What you need to do is figure out why you're having issues wit 2.2. Are you using task killers? What kind of issues is 2.2 giving you? See it's not the OS, it's something that you are running with the OS.
If worst comes to worst then we'll do a factory data reset. 2.2 is different and it may be you are just experiencing trouble with the change is OS. There isn't an OS that I've seen come down the pike that hasn't caused some people grief but eventually they either get use to it or they root.
There are 4 stages to each part of a new OS. 1. Anticipation, 2. Joy over receipt of the OS. 3. A very vocal voice against the OS and the 4. Acceptance of the new OS with an eye forward to the next tone. Right now we are at number 3.
Follow link 1 in my sig and you will get a custom recovery. Then you can flash a rooted 2.1 ROM or a stock 2.1 ROM if you chose. If you're leary of RSDlite then read link 2 in my sig and it's about the best walkthrough on working RSD I've seen.
