Will applying the latest VZW Ginger update to a rooted phone revert it to factory?

Like the subject says, if I apply the VZW Gingerbread update, will my rooted phone revert to an unrooted state?

I'm asking because I think I might want to take my phone back to VZW for a replacement because calls are terrible but I know they won't touch rooted phones.
