WIFI Only, no activation

hey guys,
first of all, i'm new here, this is my first post.
I am not new to the android world as this droid 2 is my 8th android in the past two years.
(currently am with sprint and have a photon and evo 3d 4g).

my question:

I just got this droid 2 from a buddy of mine and when we cleared the phone, it's asking me to activate it.
is there any way i can bypass this activation as for now i just want to use it on wi-fi to practice rooting and different things?

also, this is a droid 2 global, if that makes any difference.

I dont know if its the same, but on the original droid you can bypass activation by touching the four corners of the screen. Starting with the top left in a clockwise motion. Hope this helps
