Widgets with new OS?

If I do a lot of work and change my wallpaper and widgets, etc, will they remain the same when we get the OTA update of 2.2?

Do you mean pulling the .apk and theming the widgets or just where you place them on your home screen? If you theme the widgets the OTA will overwrite all previous work you have done in the system. As far as home screen placement you might be doing that over also
