I've been searching everywhere and can't seem to find a consistent answer about what to do now. I know the first thing you're supposed to do is make a backup (with Bootstrapper??), but in one post I read it said to back up your texts/anything you want to save to your SD card BEFORE you use Bootstrap, so I'm not sure anymore. Also after using Bootstrap, what then? Can someone please enlighten me? Thanks for any help.

Use clockworkmod to make a backup before installing a custom rom.. some people like rooting just for the.control. others like to root. So they can custom theme or use roms. Check out drods rom RubiX its.pretty sweet.

yeah, backup first, get some root apps (wifi tethering, root explorer, overclock, etc.)

go hog wild, theme up, pick a rom. just experiment. with that backup in place your phone is recoverable and if you learn to sbf you won't have to worry about bricking it either.
