The amazing new Toshiba Thrive tablet will start hitting Best Buy retail stores on Sunday. Best Buy's preorder page lists this Sunday, July 10th, as the first day of availability, and the first day to pick up preorders. Of course, some Best Buys, "jumped the gun" and started selling the Tablet on July 4th, but we won't fault them for that little Independence Day surprise, now will we? :)

On an interesting separate note, Newegg is already selling the tab. They list the 8GB version at $430 with free two-day shipping, and the 16GB version will cost you $480, but also comes with a free additional back cover for a limited time. Sadly, their 32GB version is already sold out. Just to give you a reminder of why this tablet stands out from the rest of the crowded Android Tablet arena, here are its notable features again:
    • The same dual-core Tegra2, with Honeycomb and other features as the rest of the market
    • Full USB 2.0 and miniUSB ports and SD card slot (so you can hook up tons of storage devices, peripherals, and accessories)
    • Swappable back covers in a variety of colors (exclusive to this device)
    • A replaceable battery (also exclusive to this device, and pretty impressive)
Even though this tablet isn't as thin and elegant as some of the other ones available, its featureset is a bit more impressive. What do you guys think? Here's a link to Newegg - ToshibaThrive.

If I had an extra $430 lying around, I'd definitely get this beast...but I don't.

If priced around 399 for the 16GB then they woudl have me. As is It is too much for a late comer to the party. I will continue to with hold my tablet purchase till they learn pricing in a competitive market...

As the market becomes more competitive the prices keep dropping. Yahoo for the consumer . . . dancedroid

Exactly though I dont understand Toshiba's mindset. The Transformer is selling pretty well so why not match the pricing. I would but it over a transformer perhaps but for an extra 100 almost its not worth it IMHO...

Cancelled my order at best buy cause the total was 478 for an 8gig tab. Ordered it from new egg. Got a 16gig with a free back cover and thanks to my brother for my giftcard i ended up spending 448 for double the order :icon_ banana:

I tried to buy one today and it was not very impressive. It was quirky, temperamental and the screen was no where near as nice as the Ipad2.. I let my kids be the judge and Apple hands down. I'm still lobbying for the Toshiba but its not looking good. I tried.

I'm returning mine as well.. It works beautifully for everything I wanted it to do, but the reason I got it was that it had all the features I would want in a Tab, "IF" I wanted a tab. Turns out, it's pretty annoying having a 3rd device. Laptop + Incredible is fine for a while. I think I want to wait until Tabs get another 6 months of development first.

Honeycomb is tops though. Glad I got a little taste.
