Noticed that SC is real popular around here. Just about ready to go for 2.9 via odin... wondering if I could get a little feeback on what you love or hate about SC. Right now im on bloated eb01 with all verizon stuff removed, love my setup and froyo in general but am curious how much better my phone could get by trying SC 2.9

Pros: 2.9 is a very stable and solid ROM. The best that's out there right now.

Cons: Battery life.

With 2.9 some are experiencing random boots due to the music player in the lock screen. Just flash 2.9.1 patch. Also in the patch is a GPS mod that is really incredible. You're locked in in under 20seconds always it seems. No longer waiting minutes to get a lock.

No, the patch is 2.9.1.

Boot to red recovery
Clear cache and dalvik cache
Install sc2.9 zip
Reboot
Back to recovery
Install sc2.9.1 zip

If I wa to disable the lockscreen with the hidden menu (which i prefer to always do), will that eliminate this music player issue? Thing is, i hate using cwr (had a bad experience once), rather just odin to 2.9 and skip the patch

It could work.

Some people had problems and some people didn't have anything go wrong.

I had the random boots which is why I did the patch.

I'd go for the GPS mod though if you use yours. What Adrynalyne did is amazing. GPS locks very quickly now.

Does the 2.9.1 patch improve the battery life. Battery life was good on 2.5. Now it is not so good, but tolerable.

Ok, but what else? Performance wise, I dont use gps at all, so what else would I really notice about the rom? I understand just the principle itself of stripping away all the crap and how thats what android SHOULD be.

It's faster smoother and there's more themes. Always getting updated to be better. If you don't like it all you have to do is flash back. Only takes a few minutes. Try it to see if you like it.

No overclocking kernels due to no source code but lagfix works great.

I just picked up a fascinate and flashed SC 2.9. What is this lagfix you speak of? is it the voodoo thing? If so I was under the impression that voodoo was really unstable with Froyo rom's.

Voodoo runs fine. Lag fix is a kernel replacement that runs faster than the factory one which takes more internal memory to run. Overclocking is a different function. Adjusting hardware than software if the phone.
