As well (I just noticed) 94lt1 has this info on a sticky in this forum. His way of explaining it may be easier to follow.

I was able to clear the cache this time. The auto dimming is still happing. Maybe someone can test their phone like I am.
Slowly let direct sunlight shine on the top of the screen. Give it a few seconds and then the screen will get noticeably brighter.
This is not really a problem its more so that I want my screen to be bright as it is after it adjusts to the higher brightness

What do you run your screen brightness at?

Verizon's tempered screen protector only. I don't think it covers the sensors. Maybe a full reset? Hopefully some people can chime in if they are having the same problem

I called Motorola about the screen having this extra brightness when in the sun. The rep said regardless the brightness setting selected the camera has a sensor that detects to much light. It will go into boost brightness mode to help with the extra light hitting the screen. I think that's pretty lame we can't manually select this boost mode for content brightness. Maybe some of you smart people can figure this out :)

Mine doesn't do it.. Or I don't notice it doing it.. Maybe because I have my sensors covered with a screen protector

Take it out in the sun find a shadow to slightly hide the screen in. The slowly move the screen (top first) watch the screen brighten
