Why ? Because though the same real estate as my current Galaxy Watch 4 round gives up a whole lot of usable screen when your watch is being used much more than a phone butler . With my Gear S1 I used to leave my phone in my locker at work but could do much of what I was able to do with my Note phone . Though not as powerful by far it was as useful for work purposes .
If they go back to rectangular with today's capabilities that'll be a huge win for me and others like me .
