Could this be a sign that Samsung is making progress with their YOUM flexible display tech? Sammy just filed for a new patent on an exciting looking device. It's a bendable/foldable phone straight out of science fiction dreams.

Of course with billions being spent on R&D at these high-end tech companies, today's Sci-Fi is tomorrow's reality. We've known something like this would be coming eventually. Perhaps this new patent filing means that Samsung has made some breakthroughs with the tech.

Regardless, the idea of a phone that can fold like a wallet in our pocket or bend to become its own stand is definitely the next step in the evolution of the technology of smart devices. It could easily be argued that smartphone tech has grown stale as each new device that hits retail shelves seems only marginally better than the last.

Could bendable and foldable smart devices be the next big thing to shake up the industry and reignite that passion again? Let us know what you think.
