Ringer volume goes up to max when wi-fi connects.

The ringer volume on my Razr Maxx automatically resets to maximum setting every time the phone connects to wi-fi. This sounds like it has to be a setting some place but I can't think what might have happened. The only suggestion from Motorola tech help is to do a factory reset. That seems too extreme. Any other suggestions?

Factory reset seems to be the only solution for any issue with these phones.
