RAZR is locked in potrait mode. Help

Somehow other half got the Razr into locked portrait mode. I saw 2 suggestions to try and fix this, double tap home and then in settings deselect lock portrait mode (settings didn't show lock mode) and tried a lock/unlock mode ( didn't unlock it). In general settings Auto Rotate is on. Also I can see a thin red bar along all 5 screens. Any help at all will be appreciated.

Uhhh, I have a Droid Charge and this may be an off the wall response, but I noticed that my phone would lock up sometimes as you describe. I discovered that if you hit the power key while in an app it causes this. Hit the power key and see if the red lines go away and you go back into auto rotation.

Have you tried doing a soft reset? You would hold the power button and up and down volume all at the same time for 10 seconds.
