Pairing with a Blue Tooth Hands free device

Hello. I just bought the Droid last night and got a Blue Tooth Device. When I went to pair it the Blue Tooth instructions said I would be asked to enter a code number, but when I had the Droid looking for and connecting to the BT device it didn't seem to do anything and it never asked for a code/password.
