Opening .xls file

I was on a web page and downloaded a .xls file. It is 1.29mb. When I open it, I first get a popup from Polaris Viewer. I tap ok. The .xls file opens in a few seconds, but a few seconds later, I get the message "Not enough memory to open the file". I can see the file in the background, but it closes when I tap 'ok' to the message.

My ram usage was 702mb/1.62gb and my
system storage is 802mb/12.05gb.

Is there something I'm missing?
