Notification not working

when I get a text my notification tone doesn't sound, no green led light, no envelope in notification bar. I checked the volume settings, made sure everything was correct in settings.....it just stopped working. I've pulled the battery (several times), had it off for half an hour.....I don't know what else to do. Help!

Stock app ?
If so go into stock text app and double check notifications is checked.
Basically same answer for any text app
