I went from the Droid Eris to the iPhone 4 (which was so much easier in my opinion) and now to the Thunderbolt. I reallly want to love this phone, but I think it might be the Droid operating system I struggle with.

Sooo.. I would love some tips on the best settings to maintain battery life, getting the most out of my phone, ect!

I also have a few specific questions if someone could help me:
1. I matched my contacts to their Facebook profiles, but a few of my contacts won't sync. I've even gone in and manually added it, and it still isn't showing up. Any suggestions??

2. I have the main gmail account set up (and it works perfectly fine) and I set up another gmail and 2 yahoo accounts in the mail section. I tried to set up the News widget, but whenever I try, the things pops up to authenticate my gmail and it's telling me my password is wrong. I know it's not and it's working on my phone other than trying to do that. Any suggestions on what's up??

3. And lastly.. what is the best way to set up the synch option? I keep getting notifications telling me I have new contacts to sync that already are all the time!

I had my thunderbolt for a while but took it back because of the battery life. What you have is the 'ANDROID' OS with a manufacture skin over it. Some skins are better than others but some make the phone a pain to use anway......

As far as battery life...are you in a 4G area? If not you can download an app LTE off i think and it will cut your radio off and stop it from searching for 4 G should help a little. I took my tbolt back for the same reason. Also if you have your facebook widgets sync updates from all your contacts all the time that will eat into your battery as well.

1. If i remember correctly android gives you the option to link accounts. if you go into contacts and you the link icon (looks like a chain) that should fix your issue. Im not a big facebook guy so didnt use this on my phone much.

2. When you are signing in the news reader are you using your full gmail account or just user name. Again didnt use the news reader but some programs only require user name while others require full email address. Try and play between the two.

3. I think those new contacts you are getting may be the ones you add manually. What happens if you click on the notification? Android automatically syncs your contacts so it has to be them asking you to link accounts.

Hopefully you can get it figured out...as a last resort if no one can help you on line. VZ has 'tech specialist' that help people out. Its pretty basic help nothing to advanced, they may be an option.

PS...dont let them install a task manager.

Thanks for the tips! I'm torn. I still have my iPhone 4 and I am considering still keeping that and returning this, but I feel like the Thunderbolt has way more potential.

Anyone familiar with Verizon? I had to restart my 2 year contract to upgrade to the Thunderbolt. If I return it, will it void my resigning the 2 year contract?

My recommendations.

1-Setcpu with Adrynalyne 1.4 kernel. It did great for me on battery life.
2-I had no issues with Das BAMF for a rom but prefer VirusROM AirborneTB so I'm willing to work out minor bugs.
3-learn how to turn off 4g when not using it. It will save on battery life. Verizon said the phone shuts off 4g when not using it but that isn't true. My temperature increased 5 degrees looking for 4g when there wasn't any LTE available. You can shut it off by dialing #4363# or something like that to turn off.

Pretty much what him said. Also, I'd like to interject and point out if you go to Account and Sync in the settings and you can check what's updating how much.

I understand if you want to switch devices. Everyone has their own tastes and need. You get 14th days to test drive the device, if by then it doesn't feel fit for you, just return it. :)
